Sidra Lounge Afternoon Tea | St.Regis Dubai

October 9, 2017 , Haiya

AtoZaatar (Courtney) and I kicked off our staycation at St.Regis Dubai with afternoon tea at Sidra Lounge.

With tables lining the helm of the gilded balustrade, overlooking the colossal chandelier of hand-cut crystal, Sidra lounge was more of a great way to make use of idle space, and could easily have been hosted at Brasserie Quartier too. This independant space, however, was distinguishably more sophisticated than the more parlour-like feel Brasserie Quartier. The Afternoon Tea itself was an excuse for Courtney and I to catch up, and we had plenty to talk about!

Afternoon Tea is a St.Regis ritual. Mrs. Astor (the founder’s mother), was one of the biggest socialites back in the day, and she used to host intimate gatherings for the creme de la creme of the society: her friends. This gave birth to the St.Regis Afternoon Tea ritual, which is carried on at St.Regis Dubai in their Sidrah Lounge.

The Afternoon Tea we had was priced at the higher end, at AED 195 for the non-alcoholic package, but if you factor in the Entertainer app offer that’s available for it, it becomes the most attractive, value-for-money Afternoon Tea I’ve had in Dubai, and I’ll probably be recommending this to herds of people henceforth.

I’ve said this before, and I’m usually wary of Afternoon Teas because I find that far more often than not, the pastries are not as fresh as they should be, and the savories are quite bland and blah. This was far from the case here. Everything we has was extremely delicious and enjoyable- truly perfect for afternoon tea. The scones were supremely sublime- soft, crumbly, buttery and moreish!

With a stunning tiered server of some truly delectable treats, we had the option of choosing between a variety of exotic teas, herbal infusions, and coffees. I picked the Bali Tea, because of course. In addition to the usual clotted cream and jam, we also the the options of peanut butter and chocolate spread, which definitely pleased the fat kid in me.

The best part is that Sidra is open 24 hours a day, and their breakfasts, salads and sandwiches are served round the clock.
