Tea Party on 68th | Prime 68 Steakhouse JW Marriott Marquis Dubai

March 23, 2016 , Haiya

Where do you take a carnivorous man for afternoon tea? Prime 68. No questions asked. If you have a meat-lovin’ man – or in my case: a meat lovin’ sister in town, and want to catch up over tea and and hors d’oeuvres that will leave no room to desire an entree, the Tea Party on 68th is the affair for you. It’s more than just about the food though, this tea party is on the 68th floor of the tallest hotel in the world, so that’s reason enough to try it out.

My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as we stepped in, because all the tables were haphazardly decorated with trays of raspberry macarons (that I just couldn’t stop photographing) and truffles resting in cookie crumb soil, surrounded by jars of jelly candies. The music was very “Great Gatsby”, as was the overall feel, and the afternoon tea was quite whimsical and fun.

The so called appetizers were so good it was ridiculous.  Our favorites were the Duck Rilettes, Roasted Heirloom Tomato Salad, and the mini BLT sandwiches which exceeded any and all expectations we had. We also loved the corn-fed chicken sandwiches on sourdough, but I found the smoked salmon sandwich to be dry and it’s brioche bun a tad underwhelming.

The miniature roasts included cubes of USDA striploin, Wagyu striploin, and Australian lamb chops. The beef was succulent bliss, but we passed on the lamb chops as neither of eats lamb (here’s where I miss my better half: M). Instead, my sister requested some chicken, and the chef was kind enough to whip her up a grilled organic chicken breast with chicken jus and foie gras sauce.

All the teas were Tcheba (standard for JW Marriott Marquis), but I really am more a TWG fan. Truth be told, the desserts were kind of disappointing, but I didn’t mind since I was more than happy to save room for those raspberry macarons and melt-in-your-mouth coconut-coated chocolate truffles.

A little pricy for AED 185 per person, but the ingredients being put on your plate are definitely premium. Service was absolutely flawless (thank you Cecilia), and thank you to the PR for the invitation 🙂
